Is your Laptop Battery good enough?

13Dec07

For a tech geek or a blogger a laptop is by far the best companion. Whenever you go to a conference or a blog meet you cannot survive without a laptop and people like me(Most others too!) will have the urge to check their mails every 5 minutes. One big concern when it comes to a laptop is the effective time for which it will be on or in other words the life of the battery. A laptop with a dried out battery is the biggest disappointment. We should take good care to make optimal use of the laptop battery so that it stays long.

-The basic rule don’t leave your system on if you are going to be off for some time. Put it on the stand by mode.
– If you are using it as a desktop replacement then don’t charge it constantly as it may affect the life of the battery rather charge it for 40% and put it in a safe place. AT the same time discharge it regularly.
– Use original batteries. If you are using a HP laptop then get original HP batteries when your old battery gets worn out. If you use some other brand or a local one you may not get the best out of it
– If you are not using a hp laptop battery then there are also be many compatibility problems. So, go to a good store and grab the perfect battery and keep your lappie alive for long!

You can set to auto standby in power management, I set mine to be standby after 5 minute idle.
But my laptop was over a year old, and the battery can’t serve more than 1 1/2 hour, i think i should buy a new one now..
