I believe in a more simple solution.
Just use a couple of Linux based LiveCDs, which mount all parts of the hdd, including the windows partitions, and one can use read/write on them without any hasseles.
Example of such LiveCD is MepisLinux.

Here try this
1. Place your Windows XP CD in your cd-rom and start your computer (it’s assumed here that your XP CD is bootable – as it should be – and that you have your bios set to boot from CD)
2. Keep your eye on the screen messages for booting to your cd Typically, it will be “Press any key to boot from cd”
3. Once you get in, the first screen will indicate that Setup is inspecting your system and loading files.
4. When you get to the Welcome to Setup screen, press ENTER to Setup Windows now
5. The Licensing Agreement comes next – Press F8 to accept it.
6. The next screen is the Setup screen which gives you the option to do a Repair.
It should read something like “If one of the following Windows XP installations is damaged, Setup can try to repair it”
Use the up and down arrow keys to select your XP installation (if you only have one, it should already be selected) and press R to begin the Repair process.
7. Let the Repair run. Setup will now check your disks and then start copying files which can take several minutes.
8. Shortly after the Copying Files stage, you will be required to reboot. (this will happen automatically – you will see a progress bar stating “Your computer will reboot in 15 seconds”
9. During the reboot, do not make the mistake of “pressing any key” to boot from the CD again! Setup will resume automatically with the standard billboard screens and you will notice Installing Windows is highlighted.
10. Keep your eye on the lower left hand side of the screen and when you see the Installing Devices progress bar, press SHIFT + F10. This is the security hole! A command console will now open up giving you the potential for wide access to your system.
11. At the prompt, type NUSRMGR.CPL and press Enter. Voila! You have just gained graphical access to your User Accounts in the Control Panel.
12. Now simply pick the account you need to change and remove or change your password as you prefer. If you want to log on without having to enter your new password, you can type control userpasswords2 at the prompt and choose to log on without being asked for password. After you’ve made your changes close the windows, exit the command box and continue on with the Repair (have your Product key handy).
13. Once the Repair is done, you will be able to log on with your new password (or without a password if you chose not to use one or if you chose not to be asked for a password). Your programs and personalized settings should remain intact.

I have A much easier way than all of you. Firstly, boot into Windows Safe Mode, Doing this allows you to see the admin account. Log into the admin account which in 99% of cases not Password Protected. This gives you administrative rights. You now must got to the control panel, and click User Accounts” Then select User Accounts. Click on the account that you wish to gain access to, and it brings you to a new window with more options. Click on the “Remove Password” icon. Now all you have to do is reboot into regular XP mode, and you will see that pa password in lo longer required. This process from start to finish takes 1 – 4 minutes depending upon your computers boot times.

Hey, I have a little problem…my parents have set up an administrator account with a password, and since I am able to get on when they leave it logged in, I need to know (if possible) how I can find out what the password was set as, i COULD log into safe mode and disable the password but then they will notice when they dont need a password to log in…and I’d rather they didn’t realise this, so again is it possible to find what the password was set at without changing it or removing it? Or a way to bypass the password screen on occasion but having them log on normally?

hai i want to login as administrator in windows xp but i dono password.how can i enter and make changes other than using bootable cd and pressing (shift+f10) .i read from a book that by pressing f8 you will receive certain boot options where you can see options such as BOOT USING MS DOS and simply rename the file (*pwl……)and then type F5+F6+F8+(SHIFT+F5)+(CTRL+F5)+(SHIFT+F8) , but i cant get a option as boot using ms dos.what could i do.or tell some other way from which we can obtain password using registry(brt foce algorithm).please explain in detail as soon as possible.

I wanna say that itz completly useless.
when you boot from the cd, it requires you to enter the administrator pwd. and only if the admin account is blank, then wil you NOT be promped..
And only people who are Dokes and press “next” while installing windows leave it blank.
So, if it is blank, its best to press ctrl+del+delete and enter “administrator” and leave the pwd blank.
So in conclution “that method will not work”

You might want to login to the administrator account in safe mode, well even if not in safe mode.i have stated above there.
and then create an account, with admin privilages.Then you can hide the account with the registry trick:
Open Registry Editor.
In Registry Editor, navigate to the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\SpecialAccounts\UserList
Create the following entry:
Username: REG_DWORD
(Where Username is the username of the user you want to hide from the Welcome Screen).
Assign a value of 0.
Close Registry Editor.
Reboot.
This will prevent the user from showing up on the welcome screen. You will need to press CTRL-ALT-DEL twice at the logon screen to get the old W2K logon style box to be able to logon to the account you’ve hidden. Adding a username and setting the value to 1 will cause that user, such as Administrator, to show up on the Welcome screen as well.

There are alot security holes in windows Xp , i know some of all , there is a way to login to windows xp without changing password of your administration account.
But you must have another account
open My Computer ——> Tools ———> Folder Options ——–> Select () View
——–> Under Hidden files and Folder , select show hidden files and folder and just apply.
Now close all opened windows
Now find a file name PASSWD.txt ( Search by using search box under > Start –> Search
by changing its attributes

Now, let me share some.
there is a software(SW) called “spy eye”. and it monitors and controls each and every activity on your PC. I even wonder if it records the mouse move you make.
And this SW is able to record every thing including the password your parrents or friends hide from you.
I I try to write it all, I am just going to waste my time.
So, just go to google, type “spy eye software”.
and you will find information how to download and use the SW.

I am trying to log into my Windows Vista but i cannog seem to remember my password. I cannot enter the safe mode system because it prompts me back to enter my password. I do not know what to do, any ideas? I tried to reboot windows but i have windows vista on a flash drive not on a cd… Any ideas? PLEASE I NEED IT.

I need to get onto a computer and there is only one account and it’s password protected. Is there any way to pass that and go straight into the account w/o a password?
